Well provided to communities in Rakai District

The region around Pastor Alex’s church is arid, and working wells are few and far between. Friends of Nexus Seminary and Soul Fishing Ministries provided funds to dig a well to serve the communities of Kyabigondo and Kachwampale. A local church is hosting the well to help foster community support. Before digging this well, the community got water from a local swamp. Surface water supplies are unprotected and contribute to illness and disease.

Rock was encountered in the digging of the well, which will be put to use in construction projects, including a latrine at the church.

The well head is sealed with concrete to prevent contamination, and a hand pump is used to draw the water up the pipe.

The local community is instructed in the use of the well by Pastor Alex as he blesses it.

Four hundred persons from each community now have access to clean water, thanks to the generosity of donors to Friends of Nexus. As more funds become available, more wells will be provided, improving the lives of hundreds more people.
